Urban Floods and Suitability Analysis of Rainwater Harvesting Potential Areas in Lahore City, Pakistan

There is a growing threat of urban flooding, particularly in Pakistan that needs attention and requires effective management strategies. The chief trigger for flooding the rapid unplanned urbanization areas where impermeable surface inhibits rainwater diffusion changes natural water flow. In many developed countries, technique harvesting implemented as sustainable strategy to manage stormwater. Most studies projects chiefly focused on potential use Rainwater conservation arid semi-arid climates. present work, GIS remote sensing methodologies are utilized suitability structures. This study was conducted Lahore, second most populated city capital Punjab. Generally, depends topographical with accumulation, there an availability open spaces form green barren lands, rainfall, drainage network density, rainfall distribution, environment. SRTM DEM data were used finding high accumulated areas, Landsat OLI image retrieve land information i.e. vacant spaces, existing distribution.
